A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE
Lewis Alston served in the U.S. Marines at the age of 17 as a reconnaissance scout. He served in the Vietnam War for one year. When returning home from his time in combat, he had difficulty controlling his anger, experienced sleep deprivation, and could not maintain his focus. To soothe the pain, he turned to and eventually became addicted to drugs and alcohol. He lost his family, friends, and basically himself. In 1985 he asked God's help in his recovery. In return, he made a covenant that if his life was spared, he would spend his time helping veterans and their families. Lewis talks from the heart about his experiences with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and drug/alcohol recovery. You'll find this talk enlightening, educational, but most of all, inspiring.

CHANGING TRENDS IN FUNERAL SERVICE
Interesting how we plan for our future in so many ways, but not the inevitable. Today, funeral service is different than ever before because an experience is being created by families, Clergy, and Funeral Directors. Why and how do we honor a life lived and is that important? What has changed?
Michele has been in funeral service since she was 15 years "young" and believes if we are educated and informed, we can walk the journey of remembering a loved one in a healthy, loving way. Alan Wolfelt, author, once said, "Remembering is part of the healing." Michele would like you to leave her presentation saying, "Wow, I learned something tonight."
